NEW BACKERS: What does it mean to back (or pledge for) a project?
When you back a project, the creator sends you their creation in the form of a reward. That means you’ll get the product once it’s developed and produced. Besides getting the product itself, you’re also joining a community. Follow along the production process, take part in important surveys, and give the creator valuable feedback.

GAME: What is :Otherscape?
Hailed as “Shadowrun with ligher rule set”, :Otherscape is a cinematic tabletop roleplaying game with an aesthetic inspired by cyberpunk classics like Ghost In The Shell and Akira. It’s set in dystopian metropoles where the magic of mythology is creeping back into existence, clashing with the Noise of technology.
Cairo:Otherscape runs on the same engine as Legend In The Mist, which was voted Most Anticipated TTRPG of 2025 (on EN World).

REWARDS: What is the First 48 hours reward?
If you pledge for a physical pledge level in the first 48 hours of the Kickstarter campaign, you will receive a trio of Soul, Sand, and Tech dice, compatible with any :Otherscape expansion as well as all other Son of Oak games. If you pledge to the Boxed Set pledge level (or higher tiers), you will receive these in addition to the 6 dice already in your set.

No. We can see when you originally backed the campaign, so we can upgrade your pledge freely and we will still send you with the early bird reward.

SHIPPING: Do you ship worldwide?
We ship to most countries, with customs-friendly shipping to the US, UK, EU (except Malta and Cyprus), Canada, and Australia. The shipping fee estimates for these destinations are given in the Shipping section of the campaign page.
We cannot ship to Russia, Iran, North Korea, and Cuba.

SHIPPING: When are shipping fees and taxes paid?
Shipping fees and taxes, such as VAT, will not be charged on Kickstarter and instead will be charged in the BackerKit pledge manager AFTER the Kickstarter. Please review the estimated shipping fees in the table under the Shipping section, and take those into account. You must pay the shipping fees and tax charges via the pledge manager after the Kickstarter to receive your rewards.

SHIPPING: Do I have to pay VAT (value added tax) on rewards?
Backers in countries with VAT or similar taxes will have to pay it for applicable items, and only for applicable items, depending on what items incur VAT in their country. For example, in the UK book are 0% VAT but cards and dice incur the full VAT rate, so backers will pay VAT only for cards and dice in their pledge.
For regions listed as VAT- or tax-friendly (US, UK, EU, Canada, Australia), applicable taxes IF ANY will be charged in the pledge manager after the Kickstarter campaign ends. For all other regions, backers will be responsible for paying any applicable taxes required in your country to receive your package.

SHIPPING: Does shipping include the new US Tariffs?
We print in non-tariffed countries so currently foresee no additional costs for this project. In the event that high tariffs (over 30%) do somehow apply when this project is delivered, we will charge the minimal amount required to cover tariffs before delivery (in 2026). For reference, even at 100% tariffs, this is estimated at no more than $5 per book.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
